As Chairman of the Umhlatuzana Civic Association, I am proud and honoured to represent the Umhlatuzana Community in conveying our congratulations to the Silverglen Civic Association (SCA), on their 50th Anniversary, marking half a century of remarkable growth – growth in membership, vision, effectiveness, credibility and civic duty.
Few would have believed half a century ago that the SCA would have risen to the heights it has today in the arena of Community Development and Upliftment. You are still a bunch of mavericks, and in my book, the Association is today one of a handful of Civic organisations in the area dedicated to protecting our Communities. You have come a long way and I salute you for your community outreach and evolving activism, your effectiveness and your uncompromising commitment to your vision of a ‘Healthier, Cleaner and Safer Environment”.
I also salute all of your previous heroes who are no longer with us who would be enormously proud to see what this organisation has become. SCA is a marvelous example of what citizen activism is all about. Several people who share a concern about a particular issue, have an idea to organize, and then do what is necessary to resolve it. The result is an Association of likeminded people coming together around something they love to do and building that Association into an activist organisation that today has remarkable effects on the public. You can all be proud of the rising organisation you are commemorating.

We salute the Silverglen Civic Association on your milestone achievement. We wish you well in your future endeavours and pray that you will savour the fruits of your relentless and challenging work.
