50 YEARS! FIVE DECADES! WOW! That is surely an achievement that we must celebrate. We welcome the Silverglen Civic Association to our ranks – 50 year club. The KHARWASTAN CIVIC ASSOCIATION congratulates your organisation on reaching this important milestone.
The members of SCA realized fifty years ago that there was a need to create a platform for the residents of Silverglen to voice their concerns in regard to services provided by the City Council of Durban.
The Council openly discriminated against our communities and the Silverglen Civic Association fought a hard battle with them to enhance the services provided by the City Council of Durban. Road, drainage, water supplies and electricity were all improved through interventions by SCA.
The engagement with the Council was not easy and the SCA pursued the challenges until they obtained the desired results. We have always received positive comments and good words about SCA from people that we engaged with in Silverglen. Your interactions with the community and your interventions on their behalf are truly appreciated by them.
Residents have a meaningful role to play in making projects that you undertake to succeed. The community knows its needs and it is therefore imperative for them to engage with SCA who are always willing to listen to them. We appeal to the youth to join SCA and pursue the goals of SCA for many years to come and to be there to celebrate the CENTENARY of the Organisation.
We must thank the membership of the Silverglen Civic Association for their hard work in order to make Silverglen a better place for all to live in.
